HOW IT ALL STARTED
Fiery Feet Dance Studio was launched in Leamington Spa and the surrounding villages of Harbury and Bishops Tachbrook in 2005 by Sara Evans. Workshop style classes soon developed into sessions offering examination work with the British Theatre Dance Association, as well as students having the opportunity to participate in our annual production.
Over the years Fiery Feet has gone from strength to strength, with the majority of classes now running from our purpose built dance studio on Windsor Place. Fiery Feet also offers ballet classes to Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 students at Warwick Preparatory School, and enrichment classes as well as an after school club at Emscote Infant School. We have wonderful team of instructors that take great pride in offering classes that build confidence, develop knowledge, improve technique and are always fun-filled too.
WHAT WE DO
Within our studio timetable we cover BTDA classical ballet, modern jazz, tap, acrobatics and lyrical. Our ‘combination’ classes are very popular, with students covering three or four subjects each week, and spending June – December working through examinations and January – May working toward our annual show.
We also offer ‘single subject’ classes in classical ballet, acrobatics and lyrical which work toward examinations throughout the whole year. For adults, we offer ‘Balle-xercise’ (a ballet based fitness class) as well as an ‘Improvers’ adult tap class which is lots of fun! Fiery Feet is also home to a number of other fitness classes for adults (please see our full timetable for details).
EXAMS AND SHOWS
Fiery Feet is affiliated with the British Theatre Dance Association, the head quarters of which are in Leicester, but whose syllabus extends right across the world (from Leamington to Dubai and everywhere in between!) Their grade structure is designed for gradual and thorough progression, with one level laying the foundation for the next.
The Graded Qualifications Alliance is the awarding arm of the British Theatre Dance Association, with the higher graded work being able to contribute to UCAS points if needed. Whilst quite formal, both examiners and teachers are keen to ensure that taking an exam is a positive, professional and enjoyable experience for dancers. Fiery Feet has up to eight exam sessions a year – lots of opportunity for a dancer to progress!
Each year, dancers from our ‘combination’ classes work toward our annual show, which takes place at the Royal Spa Centre just before the May half term. Dancers look forward to the opportunity to showcase their skills to friends and family – it is the highlight of the Fiery Feet calendar! Always involving lots of glitz and glamour, smiles (sometimes tears) from the audience, and of course tonnes of hair gel, our show is a chance for dancers to improve their performance skills and have a great time!
