On Sunday 15th January, our four Stage Class teams competed at the ‘Move It Shake It’ competition in Coventry. ‘Move It Shake It’ hosts regional heats across the UK, providing dancers with the opportunity to compete in a fun, friendly and supportive environment.
It was fantastic to get our Stage Class teams back competing post covid as this type of event offers our students an additional layer in their training on top off examinations and performances. Competitions act as a great marker for our student’s skill level and provide us with the chance to demonstrate some of our core values publicly – sportsmanship, teamwork, resilience and professionalism.
The day also offered our students the chance to socialise with one another, and it was lovely to see our younger students in ore of our senior teams and likewise the senior girls acted as wonderful role models for the younger ones.
Some of my earliest Fiery Feet memories are from the friendships I had with the ‘big girls’ and how much I looked up to them, now that I am a ‘big girl’, I’m so grateful that I can develop the same sorts of friendships and hopefully give those little girls the same treasured memories I have.Ava – Senior Dancer
We also want to thank our Fiery Feet Families who enabled our dancers attend the event and stayed to support us right until the very end of the day; we are so grateful to you.
All the categories were incredibly tough with such high standards of work demonstrated from every school, but…
Juniors – Witch Doctor – 1st Place
Inters – Ride On Time – 1st Place
Seniors – Bruises – Most Innovative Choreography
We are delighted with the results which are testament to our dancers’ hard work, collaborative efforts and ability to perform their choreography as intended.
I am so incredibly proud of our dancers; for some this was their first competition after covid, for others their first ever, so it was wonderful to see them all shine on stage! They all have worked so hard during rehearsal and this show in the results. I could not have asked for anything more.Elly – Stage Class Teacher
The fun doesn’t stop there though, as these three dances are now eligible to compete in the ‘Move It Shake It National Championships’, where they will come up against the other regional winners.
Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for more information regarding this exciting opportunity, not to mention the many more performances and competitions we are taking part in later this year. It is safe to say that we cannot wait!
